2017 has been very exciting for base level kits. Budget conscious 1x11 options, improved hub and rim combinations and high performance suspension, albeit without some of the fancier coatings.

The Fox Performance rear shock offers riders easy rebound and compression controls. Compression is controlled with a 3 position lever with Open, Medium and Firm options. These VPP bikes climb excellent in Open and Medium – Firm is almost too stiff for my taste but excellent on longer road climbs, etc.

The BikeCo Option upgrade for the R1X produces a bike that any of our staff would ride. First we’ve updated the brakes to the SRAM Guide R. These 4 piston brakes provide a more appropriate trail / light enduro performance band with greatly improved heat capacity – which is nice for both faster riders and newer riders, who tend to use more brake. BikeCo also updated the R1X with the RockShox Reverb Stealth adjustable post, because, well, every rider should have an adjustable post… If you’re new to the sport adjustable posts improve performance, comfort and safety. Ask your buddies, it’s well worth it.

The MSRP on the stock build is $2,999 – BikeCo’s ‘Option’ upgrade bike is $3,164! That’s $500 in upgrades at incredible savings.
