Reply to Are You Going To Buy a New Bike in 2018? 1/19/2018 8:20 AM

My bikes are old and my wallet's empty. It's frustrating to work in a bike shop building all of the finest new bikes and not being paid anywhere near enough to afford one.

Damn straight! Tall guys rule! Though I may be slightly biased as I stand a proud two meters.

Graphics. They're all so delicate. That's one place that I've always saved a lot of money just going with the cheapest ones and replacing them (Without crying too hard.) when they break.

Pull shocks are the way of the future. I'm telling you... C'mon Rock Shox! Grow some balls and bring 'em back. (You've done your enduro thing.) I've got the frame design all worked out.

Good call. He's a real powerhouse. I was gonna say either Greenland or Moir.

"Constriction of funding."? Isn't it all just gonna trickle down? Biggest year ever?

Reply to Mountain Biking in Wilderness Areas Closer to Reality: USA House Committee Passes Bill 12/19/2017 6:34 PM

According to the LA times, this move is a GOP trick to open up our wilderness areas to a lot more than just mountain biking. Bikes would just be a foot in the door for mineral and oil extraction among other things. That's why IMBA is against it.

Stuck on 26s. I was thinking about this today, and I've also never had; a clutch derailleur, narrow wide chain ring, boost spacing or more than nine gears. Oh, and anything less than a 20mm front through axle.

Good point on the cooling. Vents on the shock housing? Or ram air intake in the head tube?

I vote for the Scout. Fat and Plus sized tires are for the slow folks, looking to make going slow more exciting with squirmy flat tires that make boring rides life threatening. Come to the fast side...

Reply to Enough of that RAW bullshit, where is great cinematography? 12/3/2017 2:42 PM

No Bullshit. I like the RAW. Some certainly aren't as good as others, but a well made RAW video just captures the true riding experience better than anything else. Imma' call out Clay Porter. He listens to me, I think, kinda, a bit, since I schlepped ... more »

Yes! That one was awesome! That was one of those situations where I had literally drawn out that exact design two days before I saw it. Any way, it seems to me that the answer to side loading would be a very robust, like an inch long at least, bushing ... more »

Coils? What's that? My elastomers are working just fine.

Reply to Do tire inserts mean it's time to rethink tire design? 11/20/2017 7:19 PM

@JLBThreee I like your idea. How about using current rim and tire tech, But develop a liquid that could be introduced at pressure through a tubeless valve stem that would foam up to fill the tire. The feel of the tire, like we currently adjust air pressure ... more »

Reply to New question - weird frame spots on new Specialized... 11/19/2017 9:11 PM

A few of the Spec color ways are designed to change with exposure to the sun, or possibly in your case, UV light. They go all tie die or something. They come with a sticker on the frame that says so. Perhaps yours got taken off?

Reply to George Brannigan Bike & Wheel Flex Testing 11/18/2017 7:53 AM

He might have brought it back. I USED to do that on purpose at the dirt jumps. Get all nose down whipped, land on the front wheel at the top of the landing, let gravity accelerate your front wheel down the landing thus straightening out the bike before ... more »

Reply to Powder coat or paint 10/24/2017 7:37 AM

I've never heard of someone doing their own powder coating, or even the prep. You just pick your company, take them the frame, point out the key areas you want masked and then go back a few days later to pick it up. They'll do all the sand blasting and ... more »
