While I agree with your sentiments on UCI giving close to zero f*cks about DH, it can be argued that without Redbull, UCI could very well reduce DH even further or remove it from overall broadcasts. With all it's faults, Redbull has done a lot for our sport many other potential sponsors and even UCI have dismissed.

That drivetrain was under $150... and the bike is 6 yrs old so why put expensive brand new parts on to send it... so cool story bro!

We measure AS on this setup when designing the bike because it's the one the professionals are using on the race. Also on trail most of the pedaling is done on this gear. We want the AS to be on falling rate so that it wont affect too much on suspension. Also there is less wear on drivetrain.

With 30/50 the AS is falling rate from 130% to 55% and on 30% SAG AS is 115%

As a thumb rule: smaller on front and bigger on rear means more AS.

Here's a crazy theory...

Everyone has been talking about how well Loic Bruni's O'Lhins suspension has been working this year. And now we find that he's been running the CushCore, which adds both extra weight and suspension input. And O'Lhins has much more experience in moto than DH.

My theory is that the heavier, more moto like tires that Loic runs make it easier for their engineers to wrap their heads around and make everything so smooth.Perhaps other teams might want to actually Add rotating weight to their wheels? A bit of extra sealant (Or some sweet CushCores?) might not be the worst?

No, all Prime 9 Drivetrains use traditional 9-speed spacing. We recommend using all Box Prime 9 components for the best performance that is compatible with most wheels.

Is the spacing between cogs the same as 11 speed? I want to know to see if I can run my sram 11 speed deraileur and shifter and just change the chain?

Hi Pheller,

I appreciate your appreciation for our "value added" features. Some of that is the "benefit" of being small. Stuff like that can drive big companies crazy. For example, I just decided to offer custom colors for kickstarter. It'll be a pain, but it's just cool to be able to do those things while I can. Later on, it won't be as practical.

But in the end, I never would've started a bike company if I didn't have something that would shake things up. And with more than the bikes you see here. while Brandon's review above might not be as "glowing" as all the other reviews, the result is the same. His comments have confirmed that I have a suspension design that is redefining what a mountain bike suspension is supposed to be.

The pedaling penalty incurred with suspension travel since the beginning of time is gone. And the additional advantages of variable geometry are in place, further redefining the range of performance that mountain bike suspension is capable of.

That's a big, good reason to start a bike company.

cheers,

Brian
