Canfield bikes have kicked ass forever. I have a 2013 Yelli Sceamy that still gets used regularly because it's so much fun.
This sounds like a fun addition to the stable

Good review, apart from the "We" pronouns through out the review... were there two reviewers?

I have a Lithium, and opted for the Fidlock bottle on the downtube. I can easily reach down and grab it while climbing, it clips back into place when I am in the general vicinity of the mount, the covered lid prevents the bottle nipple from being covering in crap, and it stayed on without issue on pretty much every Whistler bike park trail. Not an issue.

If I could stuff a water bottle in the front triangle they would have my money.

Great review. Such a shame that Canfield don't have a UK distributor anymore as this bike/frame would be perfect for me.

Nice review, good to see the stuff from the smaller, home grown bike builders.

This bike is a blast to ride. You really should try it with the EXt suspension though. Unreal how capable it is.

How did you find the length of the shorts? The photos on the Rapha site make me thing they're a tad on the short side. I paid a premium for 7mesh shorts a couple years ago and was underwhelmed with they way they are cut, I was expecting Rapha level tailoring since I was paying Rapha level prices and that was not the case. In my experience with Rapha road clothing, everything is pro fit (small) and while I'm usually a large I'd consider sizing up to XL in road tops. I have to wonder it that might be the case with the MTB gear too.

Very thorough review John! Definitely a bit bias here as a Status owner but with the other Vital review that came out this week on the Status 160 - a very comparable bike geometry, use, and (arguably) intended audience-wise for 2/3 the cost - it seems to me that the Big S is far ahead of the game in this market. The mullet setup won't be for everyone but a 29" rear wheel will fit for those that are interested: https://www.mtbr.com/threads/2021-specialized-status.1145425/page-22
With these two reviews coming out so close together is there any chance Vital is putting together a budget friendly, aggressive geo, aluminum shredder shoot out to compare and contrast a few of these high fun-factor whips??
