@B.Radly - so still a mountain bike if it's 2hp-5hp instead of 1hp as long as it requires pedaling? We all know it's going there once batteries can support it or until people start modding them. Also, thanks for responding to my original question.

@cofattire - Totally agree.

Would you please tell me what differentiates a mountain bike from a dirt bike, i.e. at what point does a bicycle become a motorcycle? I’m not necessarily opposed to ebikes but the fact that they have a motor, tiny or large, makes them a motorcycle of some sort and it’s an incorrect categorization to include them...more

A bike that turns everyone into Nino Schurter on climbs, allows beginners access to the highest (often rowdiest) trails and doubles the distance/trail degradation they can do in the same time is a completely different sport.

Yes I’ve ridden a couple. My comments stand.

glad JCL had the balls to say that lol! now to the bigger issue you say your popping off everything on the way up?!? no one should be caring enough speed up hill to be popping off things its bad for the trails and dangerous for biker coming down the trails.

Riding since 88 and you never attained enough fitness to make climbs at least tolerable?

You do realize this is an opinion piece, right? The author is listed. The author isn't VitalMTB as a whole.

Do you have any proof that it isn't true? from what I've seen i think he nailed it. Most pros only post pics and videos of e-bikes to please sponsors. kinda like how a lot of pros posted pics of fat bikes and plus sized tires in the past even though behind the scenes it was common knowledge that no pros used...more

Christopher has a point, that is a heavy bike!

Still, those commenting below that a lot of EWS bikes are in the upper thirties with a race ready tire/suspension setup is something I'd agree with.

In terms of better bang-for-your-buck, would you recommend this over a Spank Vibrocore bar + RevGrips combo?

Great question. Between the Faast Flexx, Spank Vibrocore, and OneUp bars, the XC Gear stem, and RevGrips, there are all of sudden several ways of addressing similar things in the MTB space. It might be time for another Vital MTB Face Off to really feel out the differences...

I don't recall any other shock having a hydraulic bottom out control, so no you can't get any shock to behave the same way that this shock does. Can you improve an existing shock by getting it tuned properly for your bike? Yes (but also the vast majority of stock shocks are actually...more
