Things are a bit more rational /civil on the Vital comment section. Pinkbike bros will be losing their collective sh*t tomorrow once this hits the main page. w00t

If you think that an enduro bike (any not Spé Enduro) goes down as well as a DH bike, either you never set a foot on a DH bike, or it was years ago.

I totally acknowledge your experience when it comes to these matters and I appreciate your opinion but i'm gunna have to disagree based on my own experience. I have owned a Sentinel since December 2017 so i'd say I have some experience riding that bike and I rode it back to back against the Megatower this weekend and the bikes were ridiculously similar (in my opinion), so much so that I honestly think that if it were possible to ride with your eyes closed you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two bikes in anything other than the feel of the suspension. VPP and FSR are obviously a bit different feeling at both the start of the stroke and the end of the stroke and you can tell the Megatower has a bit more travel but the bikes are shaped nearly EXACTLY the same and they handle almost EXACTLY the same (albeit for me, not necessarily everyone).

Like I said in my first comment, I acknowledge the awesomeness that is being able to add 10mm to the chainstay as well as being able to play with BB height, but Santa Cruz someone magically ended up making a bike that is shaped identically to the Sentinel. The numbers are nearly identical and, like I said, in my experience riding the bikes literally back to back they ride nearly identical.

All that being said both bikes are great and you can't go wrong choosing one over the other. Like you acknowledged, there have been many bikes that have pushed the envelope over the years. My only point is that Transition had the nuts to put out a bike with this geo almost two years ago and I feel like they deserve more credit for the massive change in long travel trail bike geo we are seeing right now.

It's all love, bikes are sick!

I hear you for sure! Really where Transition 100% changed the game is geometry, specifically offset and head angle. This has made for a faster, better handling bike with less compromise IMO and the entire industry has followed them as a result.

Lots more fertile ground on that front (geo), but my ranting and raving is pretty well known there at this point wink

So many good bikes to chose from these days, bad for bike companies, good for us riders!

Cheers

Fox ProFrame is the worst helmet I’ve ever had. Horrible design, unnecessarily bulky in areas and you swallow rocks. wonder about the Archi helmets. They look nice. Have a Bell super dh now and it’s great!

I've done that. It was around dusk after a weekly Wednesday trials ride at UCSC. We were racing down the bike path and I was in the lead when a deer jumped an orange construction fence in front of me. I didn't hit that one, but turned around to yell to my friends to watch out for deer. Just as I turned back around and back into my tuck, a second deer jumped in front of me and I hit it full speed right in the middle like H8ter. Nothing broken, but a ton of road rash including pretty much down to the bone on my left forearm.
