Demo Wins at Lourdes

I remember that some years ago, people used to claim that no male elite World Cup had been won on a Demo. Since Aaron Gwin just won Lourdes (not on some beefed-up enduro), I'm wondering if this is actually the first time? Sorry, I'm not much of a historian of downhill and I also don't read the threads much in case this has already been hashed out.

Troy Brosan won on a demo not more then a year ago at Fort William. Sam hill also won a few races I believe the first year he was on specialized before all the injuries. This is the first win for the new Evolution of the demo though.

That what i remember Hill won on demo 8 II MSA world cup and schladming in 2009. One year later specialized show their new product - demo 8 prototype (available to public from 2011). Hill won qualification run in first World Cup on it in Maribor and then he was injured in Ft Bill till Windham world cup. Same year he won world champs on this demo in Msa. Soo yeah nobody won WorldCup on 26inch (2011-2014) demo - only Troy Brosnan was capable in Ft Bill - but it was 27,5 with some geometry changes.

Sam won the Overall in 2009 with wins at MSA, Schladming and World Champs the next year. I believe you were reading all the shit people were talking about Gwin not being able to win on Specialized like he did on Trek instead of following the racing. The interwebs is sorry, not sorry for your confusion.

Troy Brosnan won the junior World Champs in Champery in 2011 on a 26inch ! And Brendog was 3rd in Elite on the same bike.

But @kvnsimons is talking about winning world cups So if we are talking about winning on that http://lp1.pinkbike.com/p4pb5467741/p4pb5467741.jpg version of demo... so yeah only TB did it with 27,5 wheels and changed geometry one year ago

World was not crazy about bigger wheels in DH at that time... oh the memories...
