Western Highs - Fort William World Cup

Fort William was the first stop in the UCI DHI World Cup series for 2013, and year after year the crowds never fail to flock to the remote Nevis Range in their masses.

Over the past years, there has been an increasingly large media presence on the World Cup circuit and output seems to have become melted into one with almost everyone doing something reasonably similar. So for this year, I decided I would do things slightly differently by focussing the story in this short film around the changing year to year conditions experienced at the Nevis Range. In 2012, we had rain, thick fog and limited visibility. For 2013, the sun was out, temperatures were high and we experienced some of the best weather ever had at this stop of the World Cup series. The title "Western Highs" illustrates this.

Listen to event organiser Mike Jardine describe differences that the weather can make, and enjoy watching the fastest mountain bikers in the world battle down the infamous Fort William track.
