Passes Left & Right! Sam Hill's First Megavalanche on the New 2018 Nukeproof Mega 275 Carbon 7

Since 1999, the infamous Megavalanche race, which starts from the highest point on Pic Blanc (3300m) above the village of Alpe D’Huez, has been synonymous with all-mountain riding and the highest level of true mountain bike racing. In an attempt to build the perfect bike for this exact style of racing, the Nukeproof Mega was born in 2009. Eight years later, Enduro World Series winner Sam Hill brought the fourth generation Mega for a fitting final test prior to going to production. This is the story behind Hill's experience aboard the new carbon race bike.

Tested on the toughest of terrain and in the most varied conditions, the 2018 Mega sets out to tackle every ride with its trademark attitude.

You can discover more about the Mega 275 Carbon in Vital MTB's in-depth look at the new 2018 models and on www.nukeproof.com.

Just a correction: The first Megavalanche was in 1995,not 1999 as stated in the article.

Actually- the article states since 1999 the race has been synonymous with AM riding.

Before that - 1995 'til then - kinda alike. Possibly waiting for a future article showing the period when infamy was attained. I don't know.

AM riding would implicate riding uphill also, wouldn't it?
The Mega was always known as the longest downhill in the world, and at least for the organization it was never marketed otherwise.

    Sure.
Louvre this marketing BTW. Opening me a can of EJ10, firing up the ol' Internet and enjoying the Sand Which Is.

So good. So in-depth, so close to Sam. The edit, the soundtrack... Everything on point.
Then at the end: Alex Rankin. Of course it is.
