Nearly 17 Feet to Flat - Trials World Record Drop? 10

Roland Tölösi dropped 5.15-meters, (that's 16-feet) to flat on his trials bike attempting to break the World Record. For comparison, the average big rig trailer height is under 14 feet!

The previous record was 4.1-meters. Roland's success is debated because he did not officially ride 3 meters after landing, a Guinness rule.

I remember watching a couple of Brazilians trying this off of the twelve or thirteen foot log/stump at Mammoth. They pretty much exploded like this guys first tries. Somehow Danny Megaskills makes it look like a three stair. I don't quite see him trying up this high though. He knows the limits of flow. And back pain.

I thought of the exact same thing, NORBA Nationals. That was the year I showed up without any accommodations, thinking I could crash with Joey. He was like, "yeah, sorry dude, I'm getting laid tonight." So I slept in the back of his truck in the condo parking lot like a hobo. Also, I thought I could just show up and compete in trials, and NORBA was like, "yeah, sorry dude, registration closed like a month ago". Oh, and JJ Gregorovich was there, and I was like, "hey, JJ, what's up man!" and he was like, "yeah, sorry dude, don't talk to me."

All in all, that was an awesome trip.

And I had met Joeys date the week before and tried to get her to go with ME to Mammoth. Damn. One of many to get away.

I'm sure it doesn't add a ton of cushioning and the drop's still super impressive, but landing on a cushioned mat seems like cheating since absorbing the hit is 90% of the challenge.

I agree. Why not go higher with more padding?
