Kurt Sorge's Winning Run from Rampage 2012 7

His top section was exposed and full of big drops, he flowed it with ease. A tweaked table on the Oakley sender, a signature superman on the step up followed by a huge backflip step down, and the deal was done. Congratulations to Sorge - your Red Bull Rampage 2012 winner!

That was one of the few runs on the day that constantly flowed. The only real pause he had (understandably) was before the Oakley sender. Almost every other run that day was littered (again...understandably) with awkward pauses. It didn't hurt that he stomped all the tricks he threw down. That backflip off the blind stepdown was as checkers-or-wreckers as it gets.

I loved the lines these guys were taking. Some very creative (Semenuk, Norbs, Bearclaw Bren-dog etc). I think its funny that the top three hit the Oakley drop. I think having the comp here at the same venue really made some of the riders get unique with their line choice but it ultimately seemed that those are the guys that crashed because they were really pushing it. I'm looking forward to a new venue for 2014 though. If thats the direction they go.

I thought the judging was a little off.. I just hope rampage doesn't turn into just circus tricks..

Eitherway, as usual Red Bull documented this so well, riding was on another level..
I shit myself watching this on TV, in person it must be ridiculous.. Insane.... riding..!
and folks doing final runs in wife beaters and no gloves.. ! holy shit.. !

Anyone else think Cam McCaul's run was about 10x sicker than Sorge? no offense to Sorge at all - his line is insane - but I really think the judging was wrong at this event.

Cams line should of scored higher. I first thought it should of beat Sorges run, but cams top section wasn't technical enough he rode down the ridge line, where as sorge went of piste so to speak!

They need to set a time limit and # of people allowed to make lines smooth and not add any more WOOD. Do they not have enough man made crap all year. Please remove this event from the FMB tour. That shit is not mountain biking and they can't ever do tricks like the BMX guys, so honestly the events never even look that professional compared to a BMX event. Bunch of wankers trying to land lame tricks. SEMENuak and his paving crew perfectly grooming his line from top to bottom defeats the purpose of having a Rampage. Tricks are for kids son. Learn to ride some real terrain. Seems like Rampage has gone too mainstream. We will see if it keeps going next year or if they bring it back and reign in some true freeriding.

That said. They did get something right in rewarding Sorge for a great ride down a great line.

I'm glad Sorge won, was a brilliant line.

Even the wooden structure which I hated didn't effect the scoring and seemed a bit pointless.

    Great event bring on 2014
