Well ... already said elsewhere & on Pinkbike, but the restricted area is because of an accident that occured here in 2010 during the French championships.
A spectator was badly hurted by a rock the size of a handball ball (??) he lost the vision in one eye .....

I'm confused with the whole track access thing. What possible reason could there be to limit what parts of the track the media can and can't cover?

Just below the section that makes the riders wear all kinds of armor. France MUST be different because...well...they're France!
