Video Vault: 2001 UCI World Championships, Vail, Colorado 17

Just a few days after the 9/11 tragedy, the 2001 UCI World Championships pressed on in Vail, Colorado. With mixed emotion, riders pushed their limits on one of the most exciting World Championship tracks of its day. In the end, Nicolas Vouilloz took first place, followed by Steve Peat and a young Greg Minnaar, who crashed at the finish line. Enjoy the action from the movie Alpha Project.

I've got a couple Worlds recorded on VHS and lots of NORBA's and World Cups from that era. Best moment was Rockwell at Mt. Snow beating Peaty. I was there. But to watch it on TV afterwards was just as incredible.

this track was mental! no wonder why those big guns like minnar or peaty are still on the top if they were able to hit this things on such bikes at such speeds back then!! wonder how many of todays young boys would be able to do that...

Does any footage of the gnarly rock garden from the NORBA NCS's at Seven Springs exist? (1998 and 1999) I seem to recall ESPN being there.

I'd love to see that again. My little 18 year old brain was completely detonated by watching that in person.
