Spotlight: Mike Montgomery 9

Mike Montgomery made the transition from BMX to MTB just a few years ago and has quickly become one of the most exciting freestyle riders to watch. Justin Brantley catches up with him at the Upsidedown and Underground contest to get a glimpse of his new Banshee bikes and to ask why Mike runs a neck brace in competition. Mike is hungry, so don't take your eyes off of him.

I think the whole no helmet being cool has died off a bit, so as for that I always wear a helmet. But as for the neck brace, I think they are brilliant! I can not wait to get one as I feel so vulnerable knowing that every day riding could be my last.

i like his outlook on the neck brace. you see a ton of bmx riders w/out helmets and even some mtb'ers w/out them. too much potential for things to go wrong quick. seems like a solid guy who has a good set of skills.

It's so great to see Mike killing it. When he came to The Camp of Champions to ride he was the nicest guy we'd met in a long time. Now that he coaches with us, campers get to ride with and hang out with Mike so it really cool for everyone. He's got all of us rocking neck braces too, so Thanks Mike.

from what i've seen in videos, this guy kicks ass, now that i've heard him talk.. it all makes sense, seems to me he has determination and vigor in his riding.. couple with his down to earth attitude, he's already there. there's only a few pros riding styles i really dig, mikes is one of them.

We are very proud to have Mike on board, not just because of his riding (which is obviously amazing) but the guy has a great attitude and I feel is a fantastic representative of our sport.
