We're goin' off the rails on a gravy train? It's a Graves new world? Why beat around the bush? Vital's 2013 Rider of the Year is Jared Graves. Gravey, Gravesy, grubby, whatever you call him, don't call him slow. Don't call him a one-trick pony. Don't call him distracted. From a highly competitive DH ripper to Olympic BMX racer, to World Champion 4Xer, Jared Graves has done it all. And in 2013, he decided it was time to go off the rails as an enduro powerhouse.

His 2nd place overall in the Enduro World Series was hard-fought in the face of mechanicals, with stage wins that would breath down Jerome Clementz's neck the entire season. In the midst of his Enduro campaign, Jared decided to mix it up by racing the downhill World Champs in Pietermaritzburg. The multi-tasker earned himself a bronze medal among the world's best downhillers, all on his enduro bike.

Jared, your focus, well-rounded talent and ability to put a plan into action are all reasons why we're awarding you the Shreddy for 2013 Rider of the Year.

If we see you on the World Cup XC circuit in 2014, we won't be too surprised. Gravesed and confused, maybe, but not surprised. Congrats Jared. We can't wait to see you shred in 2014. YEW!

See how Jared transformed himself for enduro racing
Don't forget, Grubby won Sea Otter Dual Slalom this year, too!
Why did Graves choose to ride his enduro bike at DH World Champs?
