SixSixOne DBO Knee Pad
Vital Review
Overall Review
15 years ago, a certain 17 year old kid made Rampage history, and his protection sponsor would soon leave its mark on the mountain bike world as well. I’m talking about Kyle Strait and 661 of course – everybody remembers that suicide no hander, and I’m pretty sure everybody has owned a pair of 661 Kyle Strait kneepads as well at some point. Fast forward to 2019, and Kyle is still throwing those suis off massive cliffs, and 661 is still making protection. After a bit of a slump, the brand is on the comeback trail, and they’ve launched a bunch of new products recently with more to come...

SixSixOne Reset MIPS Full Face Helmet

Overall Review
A fter a few somewhat barren years, 661 got back into the affordable head protection game last year with the excellent Reset, which at just $109 MSRP offers a good feature set and a look that means business. Fast-forward one year, and 661 has just added MIPS to the Reset to take the safety level up a notch. Adding MIPS also added $40 to the price tag, but at $149 USD the Reset MIPS is still very well placed to make a splash in the budget lid pond. Check out the highlights and our video review below to learn more. Strengths Weaknesses Price MIPS Light weight Stability on the trail Fresh looks...

Overall Review
B ack in the day, 661 was pretty much synonymous with sending it. Saying that they revolutionized the knee protection game with the original Kyle Strait pad is not much of a stretch, seeing just how popular that product and (often-copied) design became. As for helmets, 661 made quite a few models that followed the company ethos of making good protection affordable for all, and while they didn’t enjoy the same level of planetary success as the kneepads, they could still be spotted in many a lift line as well. Over the last couple of years, 661 had fallen off the radar a bit, but now under new...

SixSixOne EVO AM Helmet
Vital Review
Overall Review
Protecting your head seems like an obvious thing to do, and having gone through a fall that should have killed me but instead resulted in just a plain old-fashioned traumatic brain injury thanks to my helmet, I’ll never ride a bike without one. I'll go for rides all the time without gloves or elbow pads, or even sleeves for that matter, but you won't catch me without a melon bucket. You spend a lot of money on gimmicky bike parts that frankly never make a difference so you shouldn'tblink at spending good money to protect those juicy brains of yours. Anyway, when the chance came along to put my...

Featuring full-mesh-backed fingers and backhand, these gloves stay cool while riding. The thin but durable palm leather offers good grip, precise lever feel, and doesn't bunch. Both the index and middle fingers feature silicon gripper coating for increased control and grip on levers. While not offering much tree-punching protection, the Recon Gloves offer much...
