DMR Vault - V1 Flat Pedal

The Good

The grip and support offered by this pedal is incredible. The large platform size, concave shape and thin profile inspire confidence and the pins offer good grip with most flat-pedal specific shoes. The pedal is robust and has resisted lots of rock strikes, stumps and general abuse without much more than cosmetic damage. As the large platform also sits away from the crank (axle end is proud of the pedal body by 10-12mm) it is more prone to catching in ruts etc. than some other pedals ive tried, it does however stop my foot from rubbing the crank arm quite as much. Overall these are a great pedal for hard riding.

The Bad

The pedals run on a plastic bush (inside edge) and small cartridge bearing (outer edge)which spin smoothly and last well, I have found that the bush develops a small amount of play quite quickly. Although this doesn’t impact the performance too much it does mean they need servicing and lubricating more regularly than others, otherwise they become noisy.

Overall Review

These pedals have survived weekly abuse for two years and still have plenty of life left in them, despite some minor niggles with the bearing system i would not hesitate to recommend them and they remain my default pedal for most riding. They come in a range of colours and a price comparable with the competition, definately some of the best flat pedals currently on the market.

The Good

Playful yet composed, jumps well, cornering, Drivetrain, brakes, and rear shock are great right out of the box

Overall Review

I've been on the 2015 Trance SX for just under a year now, and overall it's been a good bike. A competitive price and several top notch parts as well as an awesome all around ride make it a winner. It climbs like a goat with the Monarch Debonair and Maestro Suspension combo providing loads of traction. The bike isn't the lightest out of the box, so it's not the quickest climber, but it'll get you up pretty much anything. The gearing is good, with the 32t chainring and 10-42 cassette offering

Garmin VIRB XE Camera

The Good

Capturing the metrics is a cool dynamic to add to an action sports camera. The anti-fog desiccant chip is smart, since the camera is always enclosed in a case. Simple on/off flip switch that's easy to use quickly while on the run. Setup with the App was straight forward and streamlined.

The Bad

After a few more rides, I'm looking for a way to export the Metrics only. I would like to capture it for timing, and then adjust for different usage in Final Cut. Using Virb Edit will be limiting when trying to create edits that are not just straight for camera. Battery life is also pretty bad when you have the GPS on. It's cool to capture, but turn it off if you don't really want them. Having used a Hero4 Silver so much lately, I enjoy the LCD for quick verification. Too many times it feels like someone is waiting on me and Im over the F'ing with my camera and app. That's stupid. We need to ride more and fiddle less with this stuff.
