The Good:

Keeps my chain quiet and is pretty cheap.

The Bad:

There are better performing ones out there.

Ever go in your LBS for a tune up only to be told that your entire drivetrain is shot? If so, go lube your chain now. If not, go lube your chain now. When chains get dry, that metal on metal grinding wreaks havoc on your drivetrain. With no lube, it doesn't take much to prematurely wear out a chain and eventuallydestroy your drivetrain. With cassettes that cost more than $400 retail, this can quickly become a very expensive mistake.

In terms of a solid, entry level lube, the Finish Line Dry Lube does a phenomenal job. It's a dry condition lube so if you ride in a place that rains regularly, look up the wet version of it. The dry lube has done a good job at keeping things quiet and really hasn't gunked up as much as the previous lubes I've used. At well under $10, you really can't complain too much! It's certainly not the most expensive and probably not the nicest lube on the market, but for what it is it, you can't go wrong one bit picking some up.

Some helpful tips-

Before applying the lube, I use a rag to get as much dirt and gunk off my chain. Then apply the lube as much as you want. Spin it around for a while and then use that same rag to lightly remove the excess off. I find this keeps the dirt off the chain and give me a good lube.
