Sony Shows Off New POV/Helmet Camera
Looks like Sony is joining the action sports camera game. Details are sparse at the moment, but they did release a few teaser images and some high level specs on their blog.

"Sony’s developing a new type of hi-def wearable video camera for POV and action sports filming. The video camera is tiny and lightweight, but it houses Sony’s hallmark SteadyShot® image stabilization technology, Exmor® R CMOS image sensor, and an ultra-wide angle Carl Zeiss® Tessar® lens.
That means, whether you’re shredding major powder, jumping out of a plane, or kayaking through an epic waterfall, you’re capturing super high-quality video of it to show off to your family and friends. And there’ll be ruggedized and waterproof housings available so the camera can do its job in even the most extreme environments."

Given Sony's experience in the camera world, this is likely something to be excited about. We'll update you when more details are released.

if you haven't seen specs yet, bh has them for pre-order for $198. 120fps at 1280x720, microphone input and steadycam are highlights IMO.

Im loving the STEADYSHOT thats incorporated! GoPro's lacked image stabilization and, from me, a guy that works in a camera store, Sony's stabilization is second to none! beats Canon and Nikon in their point and shoots and dslr's, so great things are coming.

Dope! Hopefully they just throw in the waterproof housing instead of making it aftermarket...

Image stabilizer might be worth the extra size.

Especially if it is anywhere near as good as what they put in some of their other cameras.

Anyone remember the old Warren Miller movies shot in the 90's with those massive POV cameras on their helmet......yea...the 90's called and wants it camera back. On the other hand it could almost work like a wing on a car... flip that bad boy sideways and you have a air brake. Could save on brake pads. LOL

can't give an opine until the picture quality is seen. Had such high hopes for the GoPro v1.0. Vid quality was nothing like the web clips. any way, off the bat, it looks big!
