Prototype Specialized Pedal 11
7 of 24
This cell phone spy photo recently got posted on the Team Monster Energy/Specialized facebook page. Because they posted it, it's reasonable to assume that Sam Hill, Brendan Fairclough and Troy Brosnan are using these pedals. A little internet digging revealed that it's a new flat pedal from Specialized. At the spindle, it's a whopping 10mm thick making it the thinnest flat pedal that doesn't require special cranks. The bottom of your shoe is convex - hence you want a concave pedal to best match up. They only real measure of a pedals thickness is at the spindle. Canfield's are 17 at the spindle. PointOne's are 13.5. These protos are actually only 10 mm at the spindle, and have a concave shape, which means they are thicker at the front and rear by design.

found another view showing how thin they are. uses bearings on both ends of spindle and is supposedly concave shaped.

Canfield bros are 6-17mm thick - http://www.canfieldbrothers.com/components/pedals
and flypapers require a weird ass crank, so I'm not even considering them.

If it really is 1cm thick, it'll be the thinnest one I think. Point One pedals are 11-13mm thick. Pretty sure those were the thinnest before these. Usable ones at least.
