Remi Thirion's Commencal with Data Acquisition System on BOS Suspension at Andorra - PIT BITS: 2013 Andorra World Cup - Mountain Biking Pictures - Vital MTB

Remi Thirion's Commencal Supreme was equipped with a pretty serious data acquisition system attached to his BOS suspension at Andorra today. No one was willing to talk about it, so we'll speculate a little bit. There seems to be a start and stop set of buttons on the bars, ways of measuring front and rear travel and then one funky sensor at the back which may measure frame flex or brake temp? It's all a guess, but it's pretty freaking cool!

probably helped a bit in making some adjustments before the race day. hehe.

so Remi just won the Andorra World Cup. the data must have helped a little haha.

Maybe it's not measuring brake temp but just when the brake is applied? I would be interested in "brake-jack" data too.

now, all it needs now are a few gigawatts of power and some speed on the way down...

If anyone's really interested about what the system is measuring: The accelerations of both the suspension fork and the rear end are being measured. There would also be a measurement of acceleration on the frame, as a base line to compare the suspension. That way they can see exactly how the accel. spikes occur on this particular track. Quite important for fine tuning the suspension.

Why would you measure tavel AND acceleration of the same thing, when you can easily deduce travel, speed and acceleration from just one dataset? Ofcourse if acceleration is being measured only in the suspension travel's path. If it measures acceleration on it's right angle axis, that's a different story.

If anyone is interested, I built something like this when I was in school. See link below:

Very good work. Hope they didn't steal it from you. I shared your system on fb to show it to my friends.

    Flux Capacitor IMO.

I was thinking more of the "Oscillation Overthruster" from Buckaroo Banzai. But the F.C. is more common these days..lol

I didn't think anybody but John Bigbooty would get the reference.
