Making The Cut - Red Bull Rampage Qualifiers Part Two and Finals Practice

James Doerfling looks out a rainy window of his RV as the Rampage venue remained closed and flash floods swept through local towns on Saturday. Everything picked up again on Sunday and the show went on, just one day behind schedule. - Trumpore
Prior to the continuation of qualification runs, build crews and riders took advantage of the primo dirt conditions. - Turman
Some riders were hit harder than others, but in the end it was for the benefit of all. - Turman
Louis Reboul was among the first few riders to come out swinging. He bumped up to 8th place, making the cut for finals. - Turman
On the fence for much of qualifiers, Geoff Gulevich was stoked to take the 10th and final spot. He made a few adjustments to his line and hopes to move up quite a few spots tomorrow. - Steen
Bourdo rules. Unfortunately he crashed on his upper drop again. - Trumpore
Jeff Hebertson just wants to have fun and go fast. The approach seems to be working well. - Turman
Mitch Chubey finished in 11th as the first rider not to make the big show. He and Bernard Kerr were still out practicing since they are the first alternates should any of the other riders get hurt before finals, which at Rampage is not at all unlikely. - Trumpore
Nicholi Rogatkin found out what it was like to go 72.5 feet over a 73 foot canyon gap. Hats off to this young rider for doing quite respectably. He'll be back for more. - Trumpore
The story of the day was Graham Agassiz and his incredible run. He was on a mission this morning, knowing he was about to put it all on the line. - Trumpore
A thumbs up from Brett Rheeder let Graham know that this mega sender was clear for takeoff. Talk about sportmanship. - Treml
If photos make everything look smaller, just imagine how MASSIVE the first drop on Aggy's run is. - Trumpore
Paul Bas struggled with the top portion of his line all week, but finally nailed it when it counted to land himself the 5th place qualifier spot. - Trumpore
With a 94 on the scoreboard, Aggy took a commanding win. Can he repeat in the finals? - Treml
Your Top 10 qualifiers. #hugs - Turman
Each year at Rampage, Cam Zink comes up with something massive to trick. Look to see Cam pull a 360 off this in the finals tomorrow. - Trumpore
I asked Evan The Intern how far he was willing to go to help Brandon Semenuk build a winning line, and his response was "Whatever it takes." It seems that would include holding Brandon by the belt loop as they both hovered above a 40 foot cliff. - Trumpore
There was no holding Brandon back off this drop once he got on his bike though. After a few run-ups he nailed it, as well as the two big doubles that follow. - Trumpore
After his huge crash earlier in the week, we were pleased to see Kelly McGarry back in the game, finding his flow once again. - Steen
This is the first of the back-to-back canyon gaps on Fariclough's line. He scrubs this one with style and we've heard a rumor that a backflip may follow in finals. - Trumpore
Fairclough's gap from another angle. Evel Knievel would be proud. - Steen
It wasn't all smiles and style for Brendog though when he cased the GoPro stepdown and took a big slam. He was slow to get up, but we saw him digging again later in the day so he should be good to go. - Trumpore
Kyle Strait confusing the media squids. We can't wait to watch the big dog throw down. He has yet to hit one of the drops in his line, but has dominated everything else. - Trumpore
Getting out of the start gate and into Brett Rheeder's line is not something for the faint of heart. - Trumpore
While most riders lead with their head when backflipping, Rheeder leads with his bike while keeping tabs on the landing. - Trumpore
Kyle Norbraten skipped his second quali run to let his swollen hand heal up, but was still out styling a few jumps on his finals line later in the afternoon. - Trumpore
Once only a slopestyle specialist, Thomas Genon progresses more and more each year on a big bike and has built himself a rowdy finals line full of big drops and ridgeline jumps. - Trumpore
The new Rampage venue delivers some amazing views. #lightbro - Trumpore
Leaning over the edge to take this photo of Cam Zink dropping into this chute is the closest I have gotten to vertigo in a long time. Just standing near this line is sketchy. Cam made it look easy. - Trumpore
Andreu Lacondeguy, flat spins, and the amazing backdrop of Zion National Park. What could be better than that? - Trumpore
In just a matter of hours riders a winner will be crowned. We've already witnessed the evolution in progress, and the final round will push the boundaries even more... - Turman
