What if you could bring wireless shifting to every bike on the market? That is exactly what XShifter is trying to do with their new system.

This wireless shifting unit works via Bluetooth to communicate a shift command to the front or rear derailleur. To set it up, use your phone to set the high and low range limiters, enter the number of gears and the system does the rest. It’s quite simple in action.

Thanks to a servo drive inside the shift units, you’re assured precise shifting every time, because of the consistent cable pull the system produces.  The system operates on a LiPo (Lithium Polymer) battery which lasts 10 to 15 thousand shifts on one charge.

Looking at the shifter you’ll notice that both the front and rear shifters are combined into one on the right hand side of the bar. XShifter is still playing with concepts and tweaks to the ergonomic design. All told, on a bike with a front and rear derailleur XShifter says they’re able to shave about 200 grams off the total bike weight by switching to their system.
