Exclusive 2012 e.thirteen Product Sneak Peek
XCX wheelset are 26-inch only right now. They use the same scandium rim as the TRS wheels, but with 24 spokes and smaller, all-aluminum hubs. Front wheels weigh 685g, rear w/ 135 QR weigh 833 and the price for the set is $989.
The TRS+ wheelsets (29er version shown here) use scandium rims that are UST compatible, have a 21mm inner width and use DT Swiss Supercomp spokes and Pro Lock nipples. The large diameter flanges of the hubs increase wheel stiffness dramatically, especially on the 29er version and come in all modern trail bike axle options. 29ers weigh 1851 grams, while TRS+ 26-inch weigh 1612g. Retail for 29er is $1049, 26 is $989.
e.thirteen dual-ring chainguides address chainlines of modern dual ring drivetrain setups, something that should not be overlooked. The 218 grams TRS dual guide uses a steel backplate while the TRS+ uses an aluminum backplate bringing it to 149 grams. Prices: $149 for TRS+ and $89 for TRS.
Now with an aluminum spindle, the LG1+ is a true DH-specific crankset that will retail for $269, while the machined-out LG1R will retail for $309. Bottom-bracket options range from $49 to $69. The LG1 crankset (915 grams) made from 6000 series aluminum retails for $189. Lengths include 165, 170 and 175mm.
2012 e.thirteen LG1+ hubs. Overside flanges with custom e.thirteen mechanism features carbon fiber center tube bonded to forged aluminum flanges. 6-degree engagement. Weights: 215g for front and 385g for rear. The hubs and rims are available for purchase if you want to build your own custom wheels, too.
The 2012 e.thirteen LG1+ downhill wheelset features scandium rims, oversized hubs, DT Swiss spokes and custom freehub mechanism. 32 hole, in 12x150 or 12x157 rear and 20mm front weighing in at 2070g for the pair. Available in October for $1299.
The 2012 e.thirteen LG1+ flat pedal. 468 grams with steel spindle and pins, retailing for $139. Polycarbonate plates sandwich an alloy body. The $199 LG1R model features titanium spindle and pins and weighs 390 grams for the pair.
As they expand their line, e.thirteen has created product categories for different riding types. XCX (cross-country), TRS (trail/enduro) and LG1 (dh/gravity) each have 3 sub-levels based on materials and weights of components.
e.thirteen is giving you the pre-Eurobike sneak peek at some of their new components, only here on Vital!

Personally, the new guides and pedals are mint, but I hate the wheels and don't think they are the right direction for e.thirteen to be going in. I am undecided about the cranks.
I felt that as soon as The Hive bought e.13, everything would change, it is. I could see The Hive using e.13 as a brand to market a whole range of mountain bike components just as some of their other brands do. This would be moving e.13 away from their traditional chainrings, guards, bashes etc which I personally thought the brand was in its prime with! I didn't feel moving into other markets within the mountain bike area would be the best thing. I felt e.13 would be better staying with their roots, supplying some of the best, if not the best looking and working guides and chainrings.
I may be talking quite biased, and many people will not agree, but this is my opinion. I won't stop me buying their products, as they still look kick-ass!!!

Hopefully that TRS guide will still work with a single. So you can have a single with a crank mounted bash. That doesn't require ISCG mounts and doesn't have a lower portion.

Always good to see wheels using standard spokes. Awesome engagement on the hub. Can't wait to see how those DH rims hold up.

good eyes bjenson. they are the chub hubs, just the most modern, refined version and now using the e13 name. hive/e13/chub are all the same group now.
