Trek World Racing Hot Box from Fort Wiliam - 2013 Fort William World Cup Pit Bits - Mountain Biking Pictures - Vital MTB

Martin Whiteley started his own black box program. This collapsible and transportable "Hot Box" can be taken up the lift to heat up the bikes at the top of the track before riders start their race runs. Oils in the suspension and brakes will be at optimal temperatures rather than warming up on the way down. Unfortunately the Scottish weather doesn't call for F1 technologies this weekend, but the "Hot Box" will be in Trek World Racing's stash of assets to make their riders go faster on race day should the need arise.

I have a friend who has a design for fork oil warmers for privateers. Affordable, simple... Pretty cool product.

I hope they bring the aero "mud guard" and wheels from world champs in 2009 to South Africa this year.,201/Slideshow,1632/sspomer,2

Wow. This is rad. Haters gonna hate, but give me a good reason why this type of tech advancement and experimentation isn't cool for the sport? Someone wanna prove this awesomeness wrong? Or out of place? Anyone?

Just about every racer uses specialized "socks" for their forks in order to keep the oil warm on cold days. I guess all of those guys are douches also, huh?

It's racing, bud. The teams are that willing to invest this crazy-seeming tech. on their athletes because they entrust them that much (dedication to the athletes is a GOOD thing). It's always been about performing perfectly at the highest level and this is just part of it. It's not like these things will be popping up anywhere outside of the WC... and if there are people that will do this (I can already tell you that no one will), the owners of those are the douches.

This is just weird and cool at the same time.

I know at least one guy with too much money for his own good who is probably already on the phone to buy one or have one made. How about a heated trailer for shuttle runs? Really though, it makes perfect sense.

What a load of crap. This is something the UCI actually should ban.

Bullshit, why should they? It's a good idea, at that rate might as well ban every performance advantage.
