The Stig ladies and gentlemen! The Stig has come to Andorra to test the Shan nº5! After numerous negotiations with the Stig’s entourage (the Stig doesn’t talk), we eventually obtained his coming to Andorra to put to the test the Shan nº5 and its steel chassis! Actually we had been wanting to meet him for long time (the Stig is iconic)! So, on this special occasion we built him a Shan nº5 Factory GTR and we agreed with the Andorran government on preparing a wonderful weather. Having a special bike at hand and without a rain drop in sight, the Stig finally accepted to ride!

We take the opportunity of this test of SHAN nº5 by the Stig to present our first range of complete bikes and our new rolling chassis options.

SHAN Nº5 OVERVIEW

The Shan nº5 is a full suspension made from 4130 CrMo steel. It’s a true play bike super versatile allowing any kind of ride, from all mountain tours to a weekend at the bike park or an Enduro race.

Just like any other frame of our range the Shan nº5 is made from our MCS tubes series which is our tailor made 4130 CrMo steel tubes, double or triple butted and heat treated tubing. The geo and the chassis design along the use of our tubing give a lively but very tolerant and forgiving ride. This tolerance is a confidence booster, giving a lot grip which will provide you with a large grin on your face!

That being said, the Shan nº5 is also almost indestructible! The Shan nº5 has 140mm of rear travel and it’s been designed for 140mm to 160mm forks. The implementation of a low damping ratio and a close collaboration with Fox on shock settings gives the rider a feeling of having much more travel than the bike actually delivers, while maintaining superb maneuvering and pedaling abilities. The Shan nº5 is compatible with 27.5” and 27.5+ wheels.

Suspension System Highlights

A single pivot suspension system
A single pivot suspension system reduces maintenance to a strict minimum. The main pivot articulates around our bottom bracket equipped with angular (contact) roller bearings. These indestructible bearings are guaranteed for a period of 2 years.

Shock absorber extender
The shock extender allows for progressiveness at the end of the suspension travel. The SHAN N°5’s suspension can therefore be adjusted for lots of sensitivity at the start of its travel, without bottoming out, and ensuring that 100% of the available travel is used. In addition, the vertical assembly of the extender and the shock absorber means that any lateral constraints are isolated from the shock, ensuring optimal cornering sensitivity and function.

Custom tuned Fox rear suspension
We have worked with Fox Racing Shox on a specifically developed shock setting for the SHAN N°5. The metric shock is a 210 x 55mm size, working with a low ratio that guarantees the best possible performance: sensitivity at the beginning, perfect rebound performance, and great efficiency throughout its entire suspension travel. The SHAN N°5 has 140mm of rear-wheel suspension travel and is the culmination of our work on the integration and optimization of the chassis, geometry and specific function of the Float DPS shock.

ROLLING CHASSIS

The rolling chassis option is a new concept at PP allowing to build your Shan nº5 more easily! With the rolling chassis option we provide all the most important and essential parts of your future build. We took really good care in selecting parts that were high-performance, reliable, and most importantly we selected the parts matching the behavior of the Shan nº5. Our Rolling Chassis are delivered with:

• Frame & rear shock
• Fork & headset.
• Cockpit
• Wheels and tires
• Dropper post

This gives you the opportunity to specs by yourself your favorite drive train, brakes and saddle and to realize your dream bike! You can even take the components from your old bike, to save up some money in this quest! An extreme attention to details was applied during the making of these rolling chassis!

Just look at it. On the SHAN Nº5 GTR, the Fox logo metallic silver and black on the front fork and rear shock as well as the Stan's No-tubes logo on the wheelset match perfectly the SHAN Nº5 Classic paint color!

On the SHAN Nº5 Factory JPS, the matt black and gold paint on the frame match perfectly the Fox Factory suspension. The Stan's No-tubes wheelset has a custom gold logo as well as the SDG custom color saddle!

Two options are available:

• Rolling Chassis GTR (Go To Ride) at 2799€ with Fox Performance series suspension, Stan's No-Tubes S1 wheelset.
• Rolling Chassis Factory at 3499€ with Fox Factory suspension and Stan's No-Tubes MK3 wheelset.

Both rolling chassis come with the superb Bike Yoke Revive dropper post with its external, simple to use bleeding system.

COMPLETE BIKES

For the first time, a range of 3 complete bikes built around the SHAN Nº5 is offered for sale! We have made these bikes, simple, reliable and with a very high level of performance.

The SHAN Nº5 GTR, comes with a Fox 34 Performance series fork @150mm, a Fox Float Evol DPS Performance series rear shock and a GX Eagle 12sp drive train. This is the first model of the range, priced at 3499€.

The GTR which stands for Go To Ride is a simple, efficient and reliable build allowing to face any kind of trail in any conditions. Suspension-wise the GTR comes with Fox Performance series offering three modes: open for downhills, trail for pedaly trails and locked. Transmission-wise the GTR comes with a 1x12sp GX Eagle, a simple and reliable group allowing the rider to face any kind of terrain, up or down.

The SHAN Nº5 GTR Factory, comes with a Fox 36 Factory fork @150mm, a Fox DPX2 Factory rear shock and a GX EAGLE 12sp drive train. This is the second model, and the one ridden by the STIG himself in the launch video! Pricing is 4199€.

This build is more refined than the normal GTR. Delivered with: top of the range Fox suspension coming straight from an Enduro World Series round and a pair of No-Tubes Flow MK3, the GTR Factory model reaches a very high level of performance. For those looking for a very very fast bike that offers a maximum of control and tolerance.

Finally, the SHAN Nº5 Factory JPS, comes with a Fox 36 Factory fork @150mm, a Fox DPX2 Factory rear shock and a XX1 12sp drive train. This is the top of the range. Pricing is 4999€.
