Dual Slalom to Replace 4X at USA Gravity Nationals
This just in from USA Cycling...

Dual slalom racing will return as a part of the 2011 and 2012 USA Cycling Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships; with the 2011 edition scheduled for Sept. 23-25 in Beech Mountain, North Carolina.
Due to rider feedback, the head-to-head competition will replace the four-cross event at the national championships this fall.

2007 Dual Slalom National Champion Christopher Herndon is building the course at Beech Mountain with the goal of increasing participation in the gravity national championship event.
Categories and classes will remain the same for Dual Slalom:
Dual Slalom National Championship Classes
Male: Pro, Category 1: 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40+, Junior: 14 & under
Female: Pro, Category 1/2/3 –all ages
Dual Slalom National Competition Classes
Male: Category 2/3 – 18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40+
An event schedule will be posted soon.
For more information about the event visit USA Cycling’s National Championships web page and the Beech Mountain Resort website.

Are there any Southeast qualifying races before then? Would really like to come up from Atlanta to compete.

Good work chris! I think if we are going back to slalom, we should go all the way back. No pratice before qualies, and one foot must be on the ground on starts. And your course should be raw with off camber turns! still have some berms and jumps.

Glad you guys are pumped. Took a little while but I am glad we got it all worked out. Hopefully we can get some of the old school slalom guys to make an appearance.....come on Lopes you know we all want to see you race.
USAC does care, right now we are trying to work out the best schedule for the racers.....that's right we are trying to make it a schedule you are all happy with. More ride time is my main goal. Oh and for bstens, there is a beer festival scheduled for Saturday at Beech.....Saturday is slalom day!!!

What? USA Cycling cares what the riders think? When did they start doing that?

Yes! I will be there! bstens, we have no 4X racers so I don't see a problem.

good to hear & I am sure Herndon will build a killer course. bstens, I do get what you are saying, but really doesn't matter as Worlds will be before national champs.
