Bryton Sport Partners with Shimano to Support Di2 Systems

Sausalito, CA, Oct. 28, 2016 – Bryton Sport released a firmware update that creates compatibility between Bryton’s top cycling GPS computers, the Rider 530 and Rider 330, and Shimano’s Di2 cycling component groups: Dura-Ace 9070, Ultegra 6870 Di2 and Ultegra 6770 E-tube road shifting.

The firmware update allows all Rider 530 and 330 users to view in real-time on the device display screens: gear ratios, gear combo, rear gear, front gear and Di2 battery level. Cyclists will still be able to view other common data on their 530 and 330 device screens, such as distance, speed, altitude, heart rate, cadence and other stats.

President and Founder of Bryton Sport Samuel Wang said, “This partnership with Shimano and advancement in Bryton technology culminates to serve serious athletes and racers better than ever. It further secures our position as a leader in the global and U.S. cycling GPS computer markets, as we offer truly unrivaled products at unmatched prices that riders and racers can actually afford, much unlike our paling competitors.”

On the display screen of the Rider 530, MSRP $179.95, and the Rider 330, MSRP $129.95, a cyclist can read what gear they’re in without having to look down at their drivetrains and won’t have to worry about battery level as they are constantly updated on Di2 battery life. The Rider 530 and 330 software update also brings several performance improvements, including faster Bluetooth data transfer speed for recording and post-ride stat analysis. This faster data transfer update will prove supremely useful in a few months, when Bryton releases another Rider 530 and 330 update that will provide Di2 data recording and incredibly in-depth post-ride data analysis to users through the proprietary Bryton App and other popular third party websites, such as Di2stats.com. The next update will also allow road riders to use the hidden buttons on their Di2 shifting levers to remotely flip through data pages on their Rider devices, without having to lift their hands off the handlebars for added safety and ease of use.

Rider 530 and 330 users can update the devices’ software in two ways: Data Sync via Wifi or the Bryton Update Tool. After a rider connects their Rider 530 or 330 to a computer, they can use the Bryton Update Tool, which is located on Bryton’s website, to launch the Bryton App and finish the software update.

Today’s firmware update creating Rider 530 and 330 compatibility to viewing real-time Di2 data on-device is exceptionally helpful for training athletes who want to examine which gears they ride in during varying grades and conditions. Paired with the Rider 530 and 330’s ANT+ accessories, such as heart rate and power meters, the devices are capable of being superb and precise training aids.

The Shimano Di2 system is peerless in speed, accuracy, exactitude and reliability. It minimizes the likelihood of skipping gears and mis-shifting, as it delivers bursts of electricity that engage a stealthy motor on the hub, rather than relying on the old method of physically pulling wires at varying forces to change gears.

Di2 users will need to purchase Shimano’s proprietary D-Fly wireless ANT+ transmitter that communicates gear position, battery life and other common features, such as altitude, speed, distance and grade, to the Rider 530 and 330 devices and makes the data readable on-device for about $80.00.

These Di2 features fused with the Rider 530’s and 330’s top-notch functions apex a mountain of useful, thorough and custom training data. The Rider 530 is built to satisfy even the most decorated road racers with its 72+ features and capabilities, from an on-device summary, a 2.6” waterproof display screen, a 33-hour battery life to an ability to create routes in three different ways: on-device from previous ride history, the Bryton App or third-party websites that offer downloadable .gpx maps. Providing personalized data and insight, the Shimano Di2 and Rider 530 and 330 firmware update informs and educates cyclists during their rides on how to become the best and most knowledgeable rider they can be.
