Press Release

Anneke Beerten Race Update from EWS #3 – Les 2 Alpes, France

This was definitely one of those race-weekends when nothing went as you planned or hoped for. After a good race-weekend in Val d'Allos, France one week ago, we drove up to Les 2 Alpes for the 3rd round of the Enduro World Series. In the beginning of the week I got a serious throat infection and was coughing my lungs out. I did everything I could to recover in time for racing, but I was far from fit when race day came around.

The first stage was very physical and long. Right away I knew that I wasn't feeling good, I also had a small crash but tried to keep going. After finishing stage one we had to go back up the hill for stage two, during this stage I really was a passenger on my bike and feeling sick, after I finished this stage I wasn't sure if I should continue racing or call it a day.

I decided to keep on going because I did not want to lose too many points for the overall standing. To top off the day I got a flat tire on stage 4 and lost even more time and ended up 13th. Needless to say, I would like to forget this weekend of racing a.s.a.p. and look ahead to the second half of the season. 'Cause there is plenty of racing ahead for me!!

First I am going to take a week off, to recover and get fit again. Next stop will be Enduro World Series in Winter Park, Colorado the 26/27 of July.

See you all at the races......keep on riding.

Thanks,

Anneke
