“I'm super excited to start this new chapter in my career with Specialized Bicycles. The entire Specialized staff has welcomed me with open arms and I'm blown away by the level of support they've shown me. This is my dream program and I can't thank them enough for this opportunity. Bring on 2013!” - Aaron Gwin

“The combination of Aaron Gwin and the Specialized brand have an American storyline written all over it that was always meant to be. Aaron will not only bring another element to the program, but it’ll be amazing watching this trio ripping down the tracks together. We can’t wait to get started with this new exciting opportunity and look forward to the season ahead.” - Sean Heimdal, Team Manager

“I’m stoked to have a new teammate this year, it will be a fresh start and I will be able to learn a lot of things from Aaron. The season starts late this year and will give everyone time to get to know each other and do testing on the Bike. I cannot wait to work together and smash out runs!” - Troy Brosnan

“We are really excited to have Aaron on board. He has a lot of interest in product development, advocacy, junior development, and so do we. We are looking forward to a very successful future together.” - Geoff Rogers, Specialized Sports Marketing

“The combination of Aaron Gwin and the Specialized brand have an American storyline written all over it that was always meant to be." Where are Specialized bikes made? I forget..... I'd have more respect if he went to an underdog team rather than another big off shore manufacturer.

i voted Aaron Gwin to race with specialized..figured they would need some one to fill some big shoes

maybe specialized can buy out the contract of Gwin with TWR. i think gwin made a good move and will get the maximum support from the team as they did for sam hill when basically redesigned the demo to suit sam hill's riding style. they did it for sam and i bet they would do it for Gwin

I never thought so many people on vital would be concerned about the kids? Are you trolling? Teach your own kids right and wrong and let these guys ride their bikes for their living on whatever bike they feel like? If you want to set an example then go pro....a-holes...contracts? You really care about a multi million dollar bike company not having someone on their team? Really? News flash....they are all still going to make plenty of money!

having ridin the demo and the trek extensively last year my vote went to the demo, personally I feel the demo will suit aarons moto back ground better. It seems more moto converts like the demo.

I gotta think that Aaron was needing something after the end of last season to get his drive back and everyone knows how stoked you get when you have a new bike to ride At their level you would pretty much have to ride a different frame since the bikes they ride are always new.

I love every bit of this... Game on... Trek pick up the HANNA'S stop your lawsuit and win the overall and womens title next year.

let's see... will Gwin win with the Demo ?

Probably a good move for Gwin. Clearly Spesh is willing to back him with their team of lawyers as this looks like it will turn into a lawsuit by Martin and TWR. The reality is though that it won't change anything and Gwin will ride Spesh and win. Sucks for TWR but that's life. I like the Yeti comment...Trek is now grooming top racing talent only to lose them to the likes of sinyard and co. Capitalism, yo! We haven't seen anything like this in DH for quite some time. Keeps it interesting.

Great point about the lawyers and the almighty $$$ - Didn't he sign a multi-year with TWR...lost a little respect for not honoring the contract...didn't seem like Gwin

Dude you seem to be really concerned about this whole contract thing... Why don't you worry about yourself. Also read the link Turman posted on here, the man didn't breach a "contract." No need to get bent out of shape over something like this.

WOW!! does Monkey stay or go? I wonder if equipment issues from last season had anything to do with this??

Don't forget his hand injury at the end too. Maybe Trek didn't have good health insurance or didn't like him sitting out of the race. I am sure we'll know soon enough.

It is about time we saw some serious money getting tossed around this sport. Not that measly pocket change these boys all make, but the huge cake that we know is available from the giants. (speaking of Giant... didn't you just open 4 new carbon production factories in Asia because of such a high demand in road, yet you can't afford to fix Danny's mouth let alone revamp the Glory for RD? haha). Sh*t or get off the pot - Time for a new era. This one is hungry for the masses (We got you NBC!!), they are tired of hearing their brothers of MX ad in that heli-pad as an extension to their back yard, while they can hardly afford the bill to their cell phone and rent for a 2 bedroom apt with 4 other racers.

It would be nice if yeti could afford to keep a top rider so I could see my favorite brand on the podium. Maybe after Jared retires...

What a shocker. Never would have thought Gwin would leave Trek for 2013. The big S is ruthless/determined to be on top. Doesn't matter....I support the rider no matter what kind of rig they ride.
