Over 1,000 Bikers Expected for 23rd Annual Event

The 23rd Annual Chile Challenge Mountain States Cup Event will kick off New Mexico’s mountain bike racing season at Angel Fire Resort starting Friday, June 3, 2011. The event organizers, Big Foot Productions, expect over a thousand mountain bikers in five competitive mountain bike disciplines: Downhill, Super-Downhill (SD), Cross-country (XC), Short-track Cross-country (STXC) and Dual-Slalom (DS).
Along with watching the races, spectators can visit bike manufacturers and equipment companies to see what’s new in mountain biking, as well as learn about the many new developments at New Mexico’s premiere bike resort, Angel Fire Bike Park.

“This first event always draws in some of the best riders in the country, as our trails offer a variety of technical challenges and heart-pumping terrain to get the season started right.  We’ve worked hard in the off-season to provide more great trails on the mountain. Our downhill race courses are world cup quality, so they should challenge even the best in the pro field,” explains Hogan Koesis, Bike Park Manager, Angel Fire Resort.

The Bike Park also boasts the longest season in the Rockies with all trails open from May 26 – October 16.
