Rumors about a European Crankworx festival have been circulating for several months. Those rumors were strengthened when an announcement was made that the event wouldn't return to Colorado in 2012, possibly opening up a slot for a new venue. It's not "official" yet as we haven't received a news release, but this photo posted to Landscape Magazine's facebook page is further evidence that Crankworx is indeed headed to France from July 9-15, 2012.
Les 2 Alpes was scheduled to host the K-Mikaz Games during this time, so it's reasonable to assume to that the event name has been changed. The recently released 2012 FMB World Tour schedule listed the K-Mikaz Games as a "gold" event, so it's not likely that Crankworx Les 2 Alpes will be upgraded to the "diamond" level during its first year.
The DH1 series was also supposed to visit the resort as part of the K-Mikaz Games, but as of right now all signs point to the series not happening.
Vital visited Les 2 Alpes back in 2010 for the Mountain of Hell race with the GT Factory Team. Everyone had very positive comments about the resort and its vast network of trails.
Who's excited to see another venue for the World's largest freeride festival? More when we get it!
