Hafjell's owner, Alpinco AS, is apparently taking a long hard look at the bike park activity, and is at this point considering the possibility of shutting it down. The company is still in the evaluation process and will not be drawn for comment, but that the matter is being considered has been officially recorded.

Long, rough, and fast - Hafjell was at its best for the 2013 World Cup

Hafjell is a young bike park, but has managed to position itself as one of the leading parks in Europe in a relatively short time frame. The two World Cups that have been held there to date have been unanimously praised by riders, partners, and media alike as offering exciting racing on one of the best tracks of the circuit.

Hafjell's DH World Cup course takes no prisoners

Add to past success the fact that Hafjell is hosting the 2014 MTB UCI World Championships, and this could not have come at a worst point in time. The World Championship is secured by contract and should proceed as planned - however, since even a prestigious event like Worlds relies on volunteers to make it work, there is a danger that the event could face issues if the park is heading for closure.
