Going Huge at Nine Knights - Firsts and Records?
From Nine Knights: Many of the world’s best freeride mountainbikers assembled last week in Livigno, Italy to showcase their considerable talent at the FIAT Nine Knights Mountainbike event. The ideal conditions of the Mottolino Bikepark ensured that the athletes pushed each other to constantly to perform at their best. Andi Wittmann from Bad Aibling in Germany was set on going as big as possible on the massive hip. During the week he progressively went larger and larger, eventually reaching a height of 5.60 m, measured from the take-off. After watching the video analysis, all the riders agreed that no one has ever jumped that high on a hip. Andi Wittmann set a new world record. He was very happy with the overall outcome of the event: “During the one-week session the athletes stomped tricks which they have never landed before. Frenchman Antoine Bizet stunned the public and athletes alike by landing a perfect Double Backflip on his big-bike multiple times. The goal of the FIAT Nine Knights is to progress the sport by providing big and safe features that allow the riders to mountainbike to their fullest potential and we definitely achieved this goal.“
World Records or not, Nine Knights is a rad celebration of freeride mountain biking. Feast your eyes on the clips and pics below!
