Dave Weagle Ends Patent Lawsuit Versus Giant Bicycles 13

The lawsuit pitting Dave Weagle's DW-Link against Giant's Maestro suspension design has been "permanently" resolved. The lawsuit, which was filed by Dave Weagle in May 2013, was based on three patent infringements and breach of a joint development agreement.

According to Bicycle Retailer, in a brief 72-word statement, Giant said, "DW-Link has withdrawn its claims of patent infringement and regrets bringing the litigation against Giant." Giant will continue to sell bikes equipped with the Maestro suspension system since it doesn't infringe on DW-Link patents, the statement said.

The original lawsuit described how Giant and Weagle negotiated the creation of a "G+" suspension system - possibly an evolution of the Maestro platform - for Giant, an agreement which Weagle claimed Giant failed to honor.
