Champery DH Qualification Results 23

DH Qualifiers are complete.  Note that Gwin is listed as disqualified because he crashed, went through the tape and re-entered at a later point because it was too steep to climb back up... More on that situation later.



Rain was also a big factor, which began shortly after timed runs started.




UPDATE: Gwin will be allowed to race, but will receive no points for his qualification run.

Joey has had a rough start with the world cups but I would love to see him do well at a world level

My money's on Gee. He has the speed, skill, and nerves to pull it off tomorrow. Brendan will be a factor, but I'm going with Gee's top-of-the-podium experience on this one.

But Stevie? Matti? Way down there! Did some of the guys ride a drier course, is that what happened here, or this is just what gives on this kind of track?

i think as long as the rider doesnt make up time and the officials see that he can not re-enter where he exited AND he is a PROTECTED rider they shouldnt DQ him. He didnt even quali in the top 25 due to the crash. so why should he be DQ'ed?

Binggeli the Bubble Boy! Does that mean Bryceland is out?

Would be a damn shame if they dont let Gwin race - he is a major player in the overall points race right now and that would seriously take away from the series. I thought at Ft Bill all Sam had to do was 'break the beam' and then he took the lift down and still qualied?

dq means no time for quali's which means no finals. when sam was hurt at scotland he at least wanted to coast down for a time to get in with his top 20 auto. F!

Just saw this on Dirt: "We’ve just heard from Champery that Aaron Gwin doesn’t realise that he has been DQ’d. Seems that he fell off on the last steep section, went out of the tapes then rejoined lower down. From what we gather the track was too steep for him to climb back up to rejoin where he left. He reckons he lost 10 seconds in the crash. Does this mean that he has not qualified for tomorrow? We know that if you are top 20 you are protected, but we are not sure if being disqualified affects this. More news as we get it."

Does a Gwin DSQ mean no finals for him? Or is he still safe because he started and is top-20 or whatever?

Not finished yet. Unsure why Gwin is listed as a DQ?!? I *think* rain started after the first riders qualified...

blenki off the front! i don't see gwin anywhere yet. is it finished? crazy how different these results look compared to other world cups!

fairclough with 1:54 on the first split...sheesh! so the helmet cam run took about 4:22 or so right, in the dry? if it's raining and blenki did a 4:10, that's insane!
