2011 Interbike Moves to Anaheim
In a battle of who's first, Interbike tries to one-up the world and moves the 2011 show to Anaheim, August 3-5 with Outdoor Demo happening somewhere in Irvine Aug 1 and 2nd.
I'm all for getting the hell out of Vegas, but this will be an interesting change, and NO, you can't sleep on the Vital office floor.

Oh, and it's the week after Dealer Camp in Deer Valley Ut, they are out to kill off the convention/retailer competition. That is their job afterall.
And Outerbike, it was shortly after the Vegas show, so companies could go from Vegas to Moab. Not anymore. I'm not sure, is Outerbike part of Interbike?

Sweet. Anaheim beat out SLC, which has mountain resorts 30min away with temps in the 80's and a pretty good downtown convention center. I know, out nightlife sucks in comparison, but i'm all about the Dirt Demo. Bootleg had/has DH, XC, BMX 4X, road, everything.
I can understand aligning with the "selling cycles" but that's only because Fox/Trek/Spec/Giant etc launch new models mid season. BS!
I really don't see myself flying to Anaheim in the middle of our busy season to go to a 2nd rate outdoor demo even if the indoor is great. Especially with the new product info on the Net. Indoor is about getting face to face with the people i talk on the phone with all year but i do zero purchasing there.

I think the whole reason they moved it up to August is to catch all the customers they were losing to Eurobike every year. There were manufacturers that exclusively went to Eurobike and skipped Interbike all together from the US. Eurobike is at least 3 times bigger than Interbike and still growing....even though the hotel situation is the worst of any show that I've been to and the traffic in these small towns are horrendous, it has become "THE" show to attend.
I would love to go to Portland!

Really? Vegas sucks and is the most bike un-friendly city on the planet, but at least we had Bootleg Canyon. Dusty and hot, yes, but it was a great place to test bikes in real conditions. ANAHEIM? Ski Industry of America moved to Denver last year and it was a total success. ANAHEIM? Really? August? Really? Lot's of people voting for Portland! That would be awesome! Lodging would be spread out far and wide, but at least you would be able to ride your bike to the expo center, and/or use the AWESOME Max Train system which stops right in front of both the Expo and Convention Centers. WE ARE A "NO" VOTE on ANAHEIM. We are a YES vote for PORTLAND, DENVER, SLC..........THE LIST GOES ON FOR BETTER SPOTS.

Its almost like the folks behing InterBike actually want to drive the manufacturers to OuterBike and skip the indoor circus altogether. I say congrats to InterBike and keep up the good work, Moab is just a couple of hours away.

this mostly sucks! now we need to work 4 years out and not 1 year out to get stuff made in time and yeah way too early for for a show for the next year's stuff. Looks like we will be doing Sea Otter from now on maybe!

It'll be too early to get product done in time. It's already a stretch trying to get everything ready for Eurobike....You may not see very many new products in early August. Trails in Irvine/Santiago are pretty good actually. There are some tough climbs like the Three Bitches, but there are also alternative climbs to make it a little easier. Weather will be very hot and no place to shuttle.

The first week of August!? How are you supposed to have a season wrap up trade show and "business meetings" at the Rhino for all the boys, if we haven't even done Crankworx yet!?... and its in Anaheim! F**k the Spearmint Rhino, all you guys have is Disneyland.

Anaheim??? The trails are okay for cross country. But dh bikes? It's a big step down from bootleg. Plus it's muggy hot in August

I like Vegas once a year. Seems to let everyone get a little loose, make friends, and do real (after-hours) business.
Good trails to ride in Anaheim? I'm not familiar.....

Last I was in Anaheim a few years ago it was very bike unfriendly. Possibly even more than Vegas. Here's another vote for Portland OR.

My work is in this industry, a lot of the time you have to be flexible with your dates to get the location you want.
With the Oregon Convention Center was big enough to house this program, it'd be great to have it in Portland.
