Im building up a Specialized s-works xc bike, I picked up the frame off mtbr and wondering what tire sizes everyone else runs on their 5" travel bikes? our terrain around here is mostly rocky and hard packed. Im thinking WTB weirwolfs but I get guys saying to run 1.9s and others tell me 2.3s? any ideas?

You may want to go with the 2.3s for your rims sake. The increased air volume means less riming out and more traction to get your shred on

A smaller tire will roll faster, but not have as much traction.I run a 2.1 wich is great for fast trails. If you ride on rocks alot, you should run a larger tire for the reasons Pwest stated above. There is such a thing as to big a tire and it will slow you down and make your bike feel sluggish due to drag.
