What do you do and how do you feel when you are not able to ride your bike because of the snow or other factors due to winter.

I live in the north of sweden, we have between 3-7h(depending on which month it is) of sunlight here in the winter, temperatures are between -5*c to -30*c and the snow is knee deep in the woods.

Lifting, riding a trainer and watching bike videos should keep you stoked on the sport. I would highly suggest finding a hobby in the winter though. When I can't ride my bike I start going a little crazy, but I can ride my bike more or less year round here.

Strength training, freerunning, and snowboarding. Occasionally (like right now) I can ride my bike on perfect dirt.

I train for the summer, do alot of photography, ski, upgrade my bikes and ride my bmx in the winter.

Hahaha 18*c in the winter, that is like an average summers day up here. maybe I should just move to australia.

FYI, there will be an announcement on Monday about the Video of the Month contest for February that will level out the playing field for those stuck in the snow/winter...here's a sunrise shot from about an hour ago (not to rub it in or anything : )

Nice shot spomer. Ahhhh here on the east coast, I spend a fair amount of time skiing or going to Rye Airfield,or just getting crazy and doing for a salt encrusted road ride .it is miserable but rewarding.

Africa is a cheap option for Northern hemi winter blues. Cheaper than the Aussie alternative at least. So is mexico, costa rica, chile, brazil and NZ.

I Ski, Snow 4 X (we have a great 4 race series), Snow track for minis around house, ride at Knights private park, talent skate park, home gym Swiss ball, medicine ball, and tower of power, tramp bike, and go on trips to wood ward east.

How does winter affect me? I go f ing crazy! We have no day light, witch promotes cabin fever and makes people fat and crazy. We need to stop daylight saving in the north east.

I have yet to truly find anything at all that keeps me sane. Yes there is work, working out, snowboarding, and what not but none of it is a good substitute for biking.

I built this:

Usual winters aren't too snowy around here, and I've typically been able to ride or dig most months of the year...Not so much this year.

Think about it for a second, servo is service station ( ...or in yank, gas station), so what begins with aft (and sounds like arv when pronounced) and could be shortened??? Hhhhmmm. I sure hope your being a sarcastic wanker and not a complete tosser (seeing you like to relate things to masturbation). Wink

I install mud tires on my 4x bike, find a park with a decent hill, set up a series of small orange cones, and ride snow slalom!

ski bike like nobodies business, it combines my snowboard jibbyness with my trials suckiness for a weird man child creation the likes of which no one has seen

love it. it makes when you can ride almost like a special occasion and you throw it down way harder.

Normally I can ride some pretty burly all mountain trails for all but 2 or 3 weeks of winter but so far this year the trails have either been covered in snow or flooded. Last time I rode a bike that wasn't stationary was November. Fuck this winter.
