I keep my old, flat tubes and use those. Just cut the stem off and slice the tube down the middle so it can lay flat. Then simply wrap it around the chainstay and secure with a ziptie at either end.
Its not the prettiest of solutions and I wouldn't do it on anything but the chainstay, but its almost free and takes little effort to put on or remove. It also works.

Im with sspomer, mastic tape is the shit! Looks super clean, stays put, and it keeps everything nice and quiet.
I use an old tube with zip ties and electrical tape to hold it together

Does the mastic tape peel off easy when/if you want to take it off?

Super easy! get it started with your finger nail and once you got a good grip it should peel off in one piece, any little bits that are left come off with rubbing alcohol.
