I have a 2011 Shimano Saint Shifter and Rear D that I want to put on my new enduro bike (cannondale claymore!). I'm really trying to get my gearing ratio to a 36T front and a 36-12 rear cassette. Is this possible with a short cage saint rear d? I didn't know what the biggest cassette you could use on a Saint rear d was. Please let me know, thanks.

Pretty sure it was 31 tooth max, but I got away with 34 for several months. It did grind a little in the largest cog, though. 1X up front, right?

yea I was hoping to get my bike to a single 36T up front and a 11/12-36 cassette in the rear. I guess it can't work that way huh

I just saw this thing about the Saint Cranks that they have a "mode converter" that can allow it to accept up to a 34T ring. Is this correct? Do you know if its an extra part or if you just switch something on the rear d to make it happen?? Please let me know, thanks.
