New Helmets and Sunglasses From Smith 4

Better goggle integration, more protective material, a new budget-friendly half-shell and new riding glasses on show from Smith.

New for 2018 and available this coming March, Smith is introducing the Session helmet, which slots in at $160 USD and includes a MIPS anti-rotational liner. While similar to the Smith Rover, the Session receives a few updates in the form of improved goggle integration, additional core Koroyd material (a straw-like impact protection material that Smith was first to market with), multiple visor positions as well as a few ports designed specifically to accept sunglasses when not in use.

Smith also introduced us to the $80 USD Venture helmet, which will be the company's most affordable price point in the mountain line to date. The $80 helmet strips away a few of the higher-end features of Smith's helmet including the Koroyd material.

Finally, Smith showed us the Attack and Attack Max sunglasses which feature a magnetic connection in the sunglass arms that allows you to attach and remove the arms very quickly. This makes lens changes very easy. The magnets themselves have one of the highest magnetic strength to weight ratios available, and a secondary snap-mechanism helps lock things into place for an even more secure connection. Smith includes both a sun lens and a rose-colored contrast lens with each pair of sunglasses.
