3 pieces is too many

The Good: It spins!!!

The Bad: Why on earth would you add extra joints to a part like a pedal body. It doesn't need them. Sure, you can customize the colors, but it also makes it heavier, thicker, and weaker. What a poor idea.

Overall: All the fancy packaging in the world can't make up for the fact that this is an inferior design. The spindle and bearings are the same as every other pedal on the market. The only feature setting it apart is the moronic 3 piece body. Do yourself a favor and buy 3 sets of generic pedals with that cash. They're all made in the same place.

Really? REALLY?

The Good: It's just a tube.

The Bad: It's twenty bucks.

Overall: You could buy 4 regular tubes for that. 8 if they're on sale. Who has $20 for a tube?

Super stiff casing.

The Good: grippy, tough

The Bad: The casing is so hard I had to run 20 psi to make it feel right. At that pressure it spun on my rim. It runs well flat after the valve stem tears out.

Overall: There are better options. Intense should stick to frames.

Just right.

The Good: Light, tight, super fun bike. Doc's been at it a long time. This is the culmination of everything he's learned and it shows. You would have a very hard time finding another frame with this kind of fit and finish. The guy refuses to do anything he doesn't absolutely believe in. Perfectionist almost to a fault.

The Bad: Disappointed that it's big brother isn't in production.

Overall: See above. It's all good news.

One more good review.

The Good: This post is a set and forget item. It will not move or let you down. Really fine angle adjustment.

The Bad: Kind of a bitch to swap saddles, but the amount of time spent is made up for by years of trouble free use.

Overall: Not enough stars to give a proper rating.

I never broke one.

The Good: Well sealed, good looking, great feel, don't rattle.

The Bad: bearings are tough to rebuild if you aren't familiar with clipless pedals.

Overall: Can't go wrong with these.

Legendary for a reason

The Good: The original boutique headset. Pretty, simple, tough, smooth. The company is easy to like too.

The Bad: Expensive, but worth every penny.

Overall: Any bike I plan on keeping will get one of these.

Added a product review for Profile Racing MTB Cassette Rear Hub 3/24/2010 11:29 PM

great hubs

The Good: fast engagement, looks good, sounds good. Made in USA.

The Bad: axle stud system is prone to loosening (I've got the SS/6 speed, nutted version). The freehub snags sometimes, not in a big way, just barely noticeable. I've been running it SS and haven't noticed this since I took the derailleur off.

Overall: These guys have been the benchmark for BMX hubs for a long time. They know what they're doing.

heavy duty casing my ass

The Good: It works as a tire. The name is appropriate.

The Bad: If you pinch flat you will have holes in the tire as well as the tube.

Overall: These guys make department store crap.

Works until you work it.

The Good: Big, thin body.

The Bad: I bent an axle and replacement parts are straight-up not available. Great customer service, jagoffs.

Overall: For the kind of loot they charge for these you can get a nicer, more serviceable product from a rider-owned company.

avoid at all cost

The Good: light, cheap

The Bad: dangerously weak

Overall: I took these out and the body broke in half on the first ride. If all you care about is weight, great. If you care at all about durability or safety, look elsewhere.

Why go hydro?

The Good: light, cheap, powerful, simple, easy to set up.

The Bad: None so far

Overall: I run these brakes for dh. Hydros are such an expensive pain in the ass. These things work so well there is no reason to pay more.
