How noticeable is the bulge on the axle on the pedals? I really dig them and would like a pair, I'm just not sure about that bulge.

I haven't ever noticed it when I ride, but I don't like to feel my cranks rubbing the inside of my shoes either, so I keep my feet a little more to the outside edge of the pedals. That's where the wide platform really shines, other pedals I have had were too narrow to let me put my feet far enough from the crank and still feel connected to the bike.
