Nice. I love it. There has been so much cross discipline love in Santa Cruz the last few years. And this is a fine example. If you've seen his 17 questions, he mentions KJ, short for Kyle Jameson, who shreds his own BMX from time to time. There are many more, both ways. Welcome to the club Ryan....more

I wonder if anyone actually pays six large for a Smuggler. For this much scratch, it seems like it ought to be a plastic frame. Not hating - I really like the bike.

Great vid to kick off the discussion, Colin. That guy has serious skills - I don't think wheel size or diam matters much when you're that good! And a bonus to hear Lyrics Born. Nice. My answer: midfat won't take over. But it will be continue to be a ... more »

If someone is going to quit their job over new tech, then let him. There are plenty of rocks to hide under. And plenty of shop owners who want reasonable, level-headed employees to service ALL bikes, old and new.

Thanks, Balfaboy. I went into the demo not knowing how much Trek had improved so much on last year's bike. The gloss black/red 2015 carbon model had a Pike with SRAM wheels, and a 1X drivetrain. It looked great but I was eyeing the alloy Remedy 9 last ... more »

I resisted the notion that 26" was dead for long enough: truly capable trailworthy 29ers are here. I just ordered a Remedy 9.8 29 after a great experience at a Trek demo day. For me, the geometry is dialed and the suspension is phenomenal. It doesn't ... more »

A rolling proto of that bike is now out in the wild and a friend got to take it down a local gravity trail here in the PNW. By his informed account, it's an absolute beast. He surprised me by saying that he'd make it his go-to do-it-all rig.

I definitely thought he was going for that canyon gap. Wow. My stomach dropped about a hundred feet!
