Both Sram and Shimano work very well when they are serviced . I prefer Sram because it works solid and it's a little more affordable.

There are always disadvantages and advantages. Clips is better for pedaling and it keeps your feet in the "sweet spot." But you can't be as aggressive in turns but that might be a good thing
