Things I want for World Cup this year:

1. Aaron Gwin winning but not dominating so much. Overall, yes, every race, no.
2. Minnaar up around top with some wins.
3. Young guys continuing to break-in (Ropelato, Brosnan).
4. Hart pulling off another banger run.
5. Gee Atherton getting some mojo back.
6. Surprises from Graves, Hannah, Kintner and / or Peaty.

This qualifier makes it seem like any of those are possible.

looked at, "this guys" profile. hmmm. created 11/15, from colorado springs, and his "name" is in the subtitle...wonder who that could be?

The first time I ran into that guy was at Sol Vista. Me, Andrew, Nate and a bunch of other guys on demo bikes were eyeballing this road gap and no one was ready to nut-up yet. We hear this guy yelling down to us from somewhere out in the woods...couldn't see him, just heard this dude harshing us (in the nicest, most encouraging way) to huck that shit. Nate said he (Matt) was the guy who built all the trails there. I didn't know much about downhill, but i couldn't believe someone in charge was actually goading us to send this thing. Then, after seeing the rest of the jumps at SV, it about made sense. The amazing part is that once you get the speed down (sometimes slower than you think)...those gaps just flow. I've been mtbing for almost 25 years, and before riding Sol Vista, I would never have thought you could ride a bike on that kind of terrain.

It's been fun watching a new American racer get up to speed on the World Cup! You, Gwin, Eliot Jackson, all these young guys--it gives us weekend warriors something to get excited about when we are stuck at home on Sunday mornings. Sometimes life gets in the way a bit...This year would have been my second year of racing, but I had some other shit going on, so I just stayed away. Next year, it's back ON! Anyway, I hope you get the main things squared away and next year come back with a new edge! You're DARN fast, it'll come around!

yeah, nomad, chill. Gwin is a fucking monster on that bike, who cares if he's churchy? for what it's worth, I think that Tomac, his coach is christian too, and that never seemed to slow him down... Other than the occasional shout-out to God, gwin doesn't seem like that much of a bible thumper, so like P says, who cares? There are a lot bigger asshole pro athletes out there...
