Peaty's bike is udderly amazing, but Brosnan's is freaking out of this world.

(Why is it quoting the posts before me, and why can't I delete the quotes???) Mine wasn't as dramatic as your bike taking flight, but an ugly, tragic trip-ender, no less. Back in '97, after college graduation, I loaded my van (AKA "Hotel Chevy") to get ... more ยป

I'm about 5'-10" (on a good day) with normal proportions, and accustomed to medium frames with around 410-420mm reach, and using a 50mm stem... I'm looking at a new frame, also medium (18"), that is 440mm (ETT at 616!)... that scares me, as it's a huge jump. In my history of riding mtb (about 28 years), with length comes stability, but at the expense of maneuverability, especially on tighter, more technical trails. As for fun, I've always enjoyed smaller frames more. The "small" (16") version of this frame is 420mm; on the long end of the bikes I've been riding the last couple of years. I'm leaning toward the small, but the word "small" is screwing with my head... can I be content with 440mm reach for a do-everything bike?

National trail is one of the few trails I actually enjoyed climbing. So many fun challenging sections, up and down, on that trail.

Judging by the photos and components, they made it 10 years ago, got distracted and left it sitting outside behind the shed, then just recently walked back there, saw it and thought, "oh crap, we never took this bike to a show!"

Got to 2 minutes then switched off after the guy crashed on the step down. The risk to reward ratio for this event was ridiculous, and it didn't even look impressive to watch. It was fortunate that someone didn't leave with permanent injuries, or worse. McGarry was lucky. Red...more

Lame. Stupid. What was the point? I'd have to question my intelligence if I was one of these guys. There comes a point when you have to weigh the variables and reward (or lack thereof) against the value of your own well being, which means sometimes telling your sponsor, "this is just stupid. No."

Define "beefed up Yeti trail bike"? SB5c? Somehow I doubt that... I'm betting SB6c (purely AM), mod'ed slacker with longer travel; damn near DH... still, always fun to hear, let's just be a little more realistic. On another note, I was at AF last week, kinda wish I'd stuck around for the racing now.

At $2,900, you are in the entry-level tier pricing from many OEMs and with a superior spec than the entry-level offering. Impressive. Let's just hope buyers do a better job at assembly than you did in Photoshop.

First off - good on you for writing this article. But, what about the used 26" bike market? That's what we need to be talking about. I don't see any of the main stream bike sites talking about this. The real steal and story is top tier spec'd Nomad C's, Ibis HD's, V10 carbons etc...more

Good one Vital! Who would pass up a Yeti SB66 at $999? wheels. Snap up the bargains boys and girls while everyone else is drooling over 27.5" bikes they've been brainwashed into buying for a very slight difference in rolling and cornering. If Graves won an Enduro World Series on a...more
