I gotta say Greg Minnaar does look more proportional on the 29er. As a 6'-3" clydesdale myself, who looks huge on a large Tues, proportionality does appeal to me...

Now that review makes far more sense (looking at the numbers) than the garbage review from Pinkbike.

One thing I would say is you guys need to get a midget tester who can ride the medium because I couldn't ride that thing with its 130mm head tube. Well maybe with a flat bar and...more

I've been loving these reviews, and there is some pretty good insight into the bikes.

However, I think there's way too much focus placed on the chainstay length in reviews these days, and the affect it has on a bike is rather ambiguous. Especially since in these tests...more

I'm an atheist in the school of chainstay length. The chainstay is part of a system, different parts of the bike come together to make the whole. I have no doubt that there are great stubby stay bikes as well as lengthy bastard stay bikes. You caught me here. I was...more

The reviews here are some if not the most thorough in the mountain biking media. I like that you all break stuff as this is something few reviewers readily discuss. The literary and historical references are fun too. I am long time Joseph Conrad fan and I hope to get...more

Really enjoying the Vital reviews this year. I take something away from each one and find I can use them to interpret my own bikes behaviour. Plus the dry, rocky trails are more like home than the loam we often see in bike reviews

it does pump a little more oil- the piggy back shocks have a 12.7 (1/2") shaft where the inline shocks have a 10mm shaft. Bigger shaft = more oil displaced.

Consululted Miss Cleo about my hamstrings did you. Well you're...right. I've never touched my toes in my life. Interesting tid-bit there. You'd have to have hamstrings tighter than mine to be deterred by the wide seatstays and that is going some. Sign me up for yoga....more

Definitely not, I just figured it was an opportune moment to expand on the geometry discussion. Glad you enjoyed the review.

It is impossible to look at the bike from a single measurement. So often the industry and consumers get fixated on one measurement as the "go-to" for the ultimate ride. It is partially our fault for calling on these numbers as reviewers in some cases, but I would urge everyone to spend some time with multiple geometry charts open to help wrap your head around the complete package. I spend an insane amount of time with each bike up for review comparing geometry to bikes I love and bikes I hate to try and decipher what is happening on the trail.
