I wouldn't judge if a bike feels too small based on a picture. Does it feel too small while you ride it? You can always get a slightly longer stem and wider bars, put a bigger fork on it, get a layback seat post etc

Buy a Transition TR450 and your beer fund won't suffer as much. You can get a TR450 with all the bells and whistles (minus a top of the line wheelset) for well under $6000. Best thing is, its a durable and very good riding bike.

Interesting... While I feel for the guy going up again against something the size of Trek, part of me thinks this will just be a revolving door of bull crap. Dave also appears to be a pretty smart dude, but this baffles me.... "Weagle ... more »

Theres also only so many downhillers. If too many bike parks pop-up, then a few of them will probably fail.

If you can afford it, then I would suggest to have two bikes. Even if you do a bit of a heavier build on the XC bike, so it is more of a general purpose trail bike, you'll have a lot more fun. Then you can save the downhill bike for the rowdy ... more »

I don't see how that would help to prevent any type of injury... If you want something like that, take a look at this Urge helmet; http://www.urgebike.com/en/vtt/archi-enduro But then after looking, you should read this; ... more »

I'm sure another thing that we witness while watching events is that adrenaline will mask a lot of the pain. I can't imagine how emotionally demanding and how much andrenaline must be pumping through those guys bodies when they literally hurl themselves ... more »
Reply to Home made chainstay protectors. 7/23/2012 12:18 PM
I keep my old, flat tubes and use those. Just cut the stem off and slice the tube down the middle so it can lay flat. Then simply wrap it around the chainstay and secure with a ziptie at either end. Its not the prettiest of solutions and I ... more »

You got it back. That is sweet. Part of me wants to say speeding through stop signs and crap is completely wrong and not worth it......but yeah. I would probably do the same if my ride was stolen too. That sucks so much that you ... more »

Kinda of off topic, but do those little fenders actually do anything (the one on Greg's bike)?
Reply to Putting on a new hub 5/29/2012 5:42 AM
Does the frame have disc tabs as well? You can just get the hubs and replace the old ones. But it is probably a good idea to swap out the spokes too. You can probably find very cheap wheel sets that might be less of a hassle in the long run. What is ... more »

Like bturman said, definitely get a cassette lockring tool, chainwhip (or make one) and an adjustable wrench to use the lockring tool. A good cable cutter will come in handy too.

Wearing a Leatt and not buckling up your helmet seems like a pretty dangerous thing to do.... Crashes suck. This isn't a crash, yet......but we all know what is coming

If you already own the bike and dislike it, it sounds like you've already made your decision. Time to get a new bike.

Isn't there a difference between someone making money off of a video with the song in and just a random video that someone edits together?

I haven't followed racing for very long, so I have no clue about what I'm about to ask. Is it the riders that are getting faster or the tracks? Or perhaps the suspension on the bikes have reached a point that these guys and just roll through pretty much ... more »
